Total alkalinity - test

Full Specifications:

Allows for approximately 100 total alkalinity determinations (actual number depends on size).

Properly adjusted alkalinity stabilizes pH, reduces consumption of pH adjusting agents and increases chlorine effectiveness. The tester is suitable for alkalinity testing in chlorinated and non-chlorinated pool water treatment. Optimum alkalinity is usually given in the range of 80-120 mg/l CaCO3 (1.6-2.4 mmol/l).

Total alkalinity is also called transient or carbonate hardness.

The tester is supplied in a plastic blister and contains reagents, crucibles, instructions for use and technical information.

Determination of alkalinity:

• Procedure: dropwise titration with a step of 1 drop = 10mg/l CaCO3 = 0,2mmol/l
• Reagents: A1 (120 determinations) and A2 (600 drops)
